    Thanks for visiting and commenting.

There are many ways to approach a chitty. One good way is to view chitty as a savings cum loan scheme. It can be either used as a savings scheme or as a loan scheme. You can start a chitty purely for saving the extra income you have. If some financial emergency crops up, you can easily convert it as a loan scheme.

It is up to the customer to select how much he or she should invest on chitties. We have chitties with monthly subscription ranging from Rs.2500/ to Rs. 100,000/-. The interest you get depends on the type of chitties you join. You will get more idea about chitties from this page: http://atlevg.blogspot.com/2009/08/why-chitties-why-ksfe-and-why-attingal.html

Are you from Attingal or any place nearby?

  12. Hi,

Thank you for your detailed mail...

I have a query in regards to my evening chitty. I have (40*5000)started in 2010 & completed 20 installments in evening branch. Now if I want to call for prize money. Please explain the bidding process & also when should I bid this ( Specific date).

In a above given scenario if I Bid for 200,000.

    1. Will I able to bid for 200K or less ?
    2. How much will I get after commission %?
    3. Will KSFE will accept the bank Guarantee of full amount or balance amount ?
    4. When I will get the prize money on same month or next month ?

Appreciate if you can provide a brief insight for the above quires..

  13. Soju koshy,

If you have completed 20 installments of Rs. 5000 x 40 months chitty, this is the best time for bidding. In fact, you should have started bidding after about 15th installment. It's okay to start now.

If you are not in any particular urgent financial need, it's better to consider the FD interest also while calculating the right time for bidding.

At present, KSFE offers 10.5% interest for chitty prize money. Suppose you get a prize money of Rs. 1.8 lakhs. That means you will get Rs. 1575/- per month. The interest for the next 20 months, that is till the termination of the chitty, will be Rs. 31500/-.

By the end of the chitty, you will get a total of Rs. 215000/- (180000 + 31500). If you want to get more money, wait till you get the chitty amount of Rs. 1.85 lakhs or 1.9 lakhs.

Now on to your specific queries:
    1. Will I able to bid for 200K or less ?
    2. How much will I get after commission %?

Ans: You can bid for any amount between 1.4 lakhs to 1.9 lakhs. As per chitty act of Kerala, the foreman commission of a chitty will be 5% of the total. In your case, it will be Rs. 10000/-. As we mentioned, any amount greater than 1.8 lakhs of prize money will be considered profitable at this point.

    3. Will KSFE will accept the bank Guarantee of full amount or balance amount ?

Yes, KSFE accepts bank guarantee. But banks are of late reluctant to provide bank guarantee. We understand that you need to keep an FD with the bank for obtaining bank guarantee. We accept FDs from all major banks as security too.

    4. When I will get the prize money on same month or next month ?

You are eligible for getting prize money on the day of next month's auction after bidding. You can accept prize money even before that. But there will be a 13% deduction of amount as interest for the number of days for advance payment.

    Hope it's clear.

    Thanks for your comment.

We apologize for the delay in response. The internet connection in our office has been dodgy for the last two weeks in our office.

You can join chits in KSFE without coming to the branch of KSFE. We shall send an application to your mail ID.

Since you want short-term chits, the following chitty patterns might interest you:

    Rs. 10000 x 30 months - Rs. 3 lacs
    Rs. 20000 x 25 months - Rs. 5 lacs
    Rs. 4000 x 25 months - Rs. 1 lac

If you are interested, please send a mail to joinksfe@gmail.com. We shall send the application and other details to your mail ID.

  20. i have a trade loan with arrears.branch has sent notice to the guarantors.
from the same branch auctioned a chitty before 4 months.security documents are getting ready within a few days.i haven't paid chitty installments after the auction.
do i need to make payment towards installment dues to claim the chitty price ?,
will you give actual bid amount?
will the payment effect to my trade loan ?

    1. ramesh, thanks for asking.

Your trade loan can be closed with chitty amount. The dues in the chitty can also be deducted from the chitty prize money. Only thing is that the prize money should sufficient to cover both the amounts.

The chitty dues will be deducted at the time of payment. That is a must. If the balance amount in prize money after deducting the chitty dues is sufficient to close the trade loan, then it will also be done. You need to give a written request at the branch to close the trade loan by deducting from prize money.

Please get in touch with the manager of the branch in which you have chitty.

  21. in the above case one can enjoy chitty prize amount and continue the defaulted loan account. means u will not deduct,if i wish to not settle the trade loan account from chitty prize

    1. ramesh,

If the duration of the loan is over, then we will deduct the amount from prize money surely. If it's not over, we usually proceed by the manager's discretion and customer's needs and track record.

In any case, if the customer wants to deduct the amount, we will deduct it.

  22. how do you deduct my trade loan amount from my chitty prize.
any act or circular ? for trade loan guarantors are different and here my claim for chitty prize is against the security of property.both are in my name. please explain.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. ramesh, it depends on how chronic the default is. If it is manageable, then most managers will let it go, particularly if each of the accounts has separate securities.

I shall let you know the circular number after checking. It might take a bit of time, as we do not have online database of old circulars as of now.

  23. thank you, sir, if the both,i mean a trade loan with arrears which received against a property security and if the bidder offer same property as security.then? here the property has sufficient value.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. ramesh, if both the loan and chitty have the same security, then we have no other option than deducting the amount from chitty prize money to clear the loan default at the time of chitty payment.
